The aim of this workshop session is to learn about different types of loneliness and the psychological impact on mental health. Participants will explore loneliness and the problems they face, and discover what they can do for themselves and others. The stigma of loneliness is such that in order to tackle it seriously, we must first consider all aspects of it and feel able and comfortable to talk about loneliness.

Many people see loneliness from another person’s perspective or in retrospect. In this session we explore together what loneliness is from a personal and professional perspective.

What to expect:

Understanding loneliness – definitions and classifications

Experiencing loneliness

Modeling the causes of loneliness

Understanding situational, psychological and cultural risk factors for loneliness

Exploring psychological factors

The link between grief, loss and loneliness

Destigmatising loneliness

Increasing knowledge and reflection

We invite you to a workshop to explore the functional side of loneliness, but also the facets of isolation, exclusion or overwhelm it brings and what are the practical ways to manage loneliness.
